Shipping Evil Eye Beads from Turkey
Shipping evil eye beads from Turkey is cheaper than most buyers assume, but only if you understand chargeable weight, when express beats economy, and how fragile glass should be packed. A practical breakdown for wholesale buyers.

Freight is the part of a wholesale order buyers estimate worst. They either assume it will be trivial because the goods are small, or they assume it will be prohibitive because the goods are glass. Neither is right, and the difference between a good and a bad freight decision can be several percent of your landed cost.
Chargeable weight is not actual weight
Couriers charge on whichever is greater: the actual weight of your box, or its volumetric weight — a figure calculated from its dimensions. A box of small beads is dense and will be charged on actual weight. A box containing a few 25 cm decorative pieces is mostly air and will be charged on volume.
This is why large items cost disproportionately more to ship, and why it is often smarter to consolidate large pieces into a single well-filled box rather than spreading them across several. Ask your supplier for the gross weight and the box dimensions before you accept a freight quote.
Express or economy
Both services exist for a reason and the crossover point is mostly about weight. For light shipments — a few kilos, which covers most first orders of small beads, keychains or bracelets — express is often barely more expensive than economy and arrives days sooner. At that size, choosing economy to save a small amount while waiting a week longer rarely makes sense.
As the shipment gets heavier, the gap widens quickly and economy becomes clearly cheaper. For a heavy order of decorative pieces where you are restocking rather than chasing a deadline, economy is the right call.
The practical rule: light and urgent, use express; heavy and planned, use economy. Ask for both quotes and decide with the actual numbers rather than a habit.
Packing glass properly
Glass beads travel well when they are packed correctly. Each piece should be individually wrapped, layers separated, and the box filled so nothing can move. An underfilled box is far more dangerous than a heavy one, because movement is what breaks glass, not weight.
When your first shipment arrives, open it in front of the courier if your carrier allows, and photograph the packing before you unpack. If there is breakage, that photograph is the difference between a claim and a conversation.
Who pays for what
Agree the delivery terms in writing before you order. We normally ship DAP — delivered to your address, with import taxes payable by you on arrival. That keeps it simple: you know the goods price and the freight price up front, and your own import VAT is handled by your customs broker as usual.
Export invoices from Turkey are issued VAT free, and for EU destinations we can provide an A.TR certificate so that no customs duty applies to your shipment.
Getting a real number
A freight quote needs the destination, the gross weight and the box dimensions. Once you tell us which products and quantities you want, we can give you all three and a firm shipping cost — not an estimate you have to adjust later.
